| | | Very Long antennae'd Day moth ID ?? At least i think it is a moth !! - there were 10's of this species buzzing around the ends of oak, holly and beach sprigs (see photo) - mating no doubt - i have two photos of the females (i assume) because there were larger ones that had yellow markings around the face and base of the antenae.
I would be very interested to find out what order this species belongs to and indeed if it is a moth - i will be pretty embarrassed if it turns out to be something else.
Cheers

| | | Re: Very Long antennae'd Day moth ID ?? Both males, the females have shorter antennae and don't dance about like males, they tend to hide and don't flock together.
The photo with several are all males, they do this probably trying to attract females.

| | | Re: Very Long antennae'd Day moth ID ?? Cheers 2dogs2000 and Durham Bugs for the species ID - i googled it and it is looking very similar to the photos - nice one - what an interesting moth !
And thanks Janet for the ID of the sex - it would make sense the males showing off - also managed to see a female the other day as well.
Thanks everyone for you help
