| | [ID, pinned] Dryinidae? Evening all,
I don't usually look at these - too specialist. Still, this looked different in the field, and warranted further examination. Certainly a weird-looker! Microscoped Description: Antennae 10-segmented, maxillary palps 4-segmented, mandibles produced and crossing at tips with 4-teeth, fore-wing veins colourless except where membrane hyaline whereby they take strong colouration, hind-wing mostly veinless and clear. Tibial spurs present on mid and hind-legs. Fore-legs longer and seemingly designed for a specific function. Trochanter in one part.
I've considered a winged Dryinid, but thought I read somewhere that they lack hind tibial spurs. Thanks for any suggestions.
Take care, Jason |

Looks like Dryinus collaris, (= formicarius).I specialise on Dryinids and have never found one of these yet, I would appreciate full data if possible, |

In the mean-time I see NBN only has one location shown for this one, London again. I'd be rather interested in knowing more about the distribution and status of D. collaris. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
