| | | Small biting fly I was bitten a couple of years ago by what looked like a horsefly (triangular shape with patterned wings), but much smaller - maybe about 5mm long. The bite was very painful and swelled up badly, possibly infected and did bleed initially (it seems to have actually been biting rather than sucking like mosquitos do!)
I was bitten again yesterday, and although I didn't see it this time I think it was the same thing as the bite has reacted exactly the same.
Whatever it is seems to live in the lawn (longish grass, only got round to mowing it today for the first time). Does anybody have any idea what this might have been?
Thanks,
Juliet |

| | | Re: Small biting fly It sounds like a Black fly, family Simuliidae which can deliver a painful bite. They live around water.
