| | | Wasp type insect I have this visit my garden everyday and the only image I could get were these as it wont stay still long enough for a decent shot.
I dont know if its possible to get an ID from these images..
this is the un-cropped pic its hard to tell how big it was but not as big as a hornet about normal wasp size but moved like a beetle when it did land on something then was off again..
The nearest I got on google was wasp-bee if there is such a thing it looked very much like this.. http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-5272...cro-photo.html
Cheers Elaine..

| | | Re: Wasp type insect It's a Nomada sp. probably Nomada flava. There's lots of them about looking to lay their eggs in other bees nests, I had 4 of them around Andrena fulva nests and am seeing them every day.

It's a Nomada sp.
The insect in the link looks like some kind of oriental hornet.
Take care, Jason |

its been around a few days and I have been trying to get a decent shot but no luck..
It does tend to fly into holes we have woodmice so I bet there are other bees around.. |

I've been following two recent Nomada threads, one being mine as I had the same question recently. Do wasps attack bee nests? Nomada Bees |
