Just had lunch and went into the kitchen to be confronted by this!

It was bloomin' enormous! About twice the size of a large wasp. Fortunately it was placid and left quietly.

Ok, I did have a pint in my local before lunch

but this was the largest Hornet I've ever seen, nearly 4 cm in length. I dread to think what sort of sting that would give you.
