Help ID Tiny Beetle

Hi

for the past fee weeks i have been finding these tiny brown beetles in my living room. avaraging 2-3 every day sometimes dead but most time alive. I cant get a close enough photo to show so i will describe as best i can.

all the same size around 2mm max. brown in clour but not mottled like i have seen in other photos. they are slow moving and freeze up when touched.

i though they were coming in from my open window but its been shut for a couple of days and i am still finding them usually on the same general area.

could they be brought in by my cats or living in my house.

i know they are only tiny but the thought of a hive of them somewere in my house turns my stomach

any help or pics/info appreciated

Afternoon Fiona, and welcome to WAB!

Are they round or verging on elongate? Try Stegobium paniceum - the so-called Biscuit Beetle, for starters.

They won't have a hive

Hi Fiona - welcome to WAB. Try looking at Carpet beetle, they are getting active now and ready to go outside. quite harmless to you but not to anything woollen!
