| | | Honey Bees where are they? The nice warm weather has brought allsorts into the garden, including me but I have seen no Honey Bees.
Previously I have watched them going around in company with the Bumbles and Hoverflies especially on my couple of apple trees and my neighbours
splendiferous tree. To date I have not seen one.

| | | Re: Honey Bees where are they? The honeybees are probably where the beekeepers put them. An absence is quite probaly due to a lack of beekeeping where you live |

| | | Re: Honey Bees where are they? The fruit harvest will suffer this year, we'll be relying on the osmia rufas and suchlike to a greater extent. This last winter has played havoc with colonies the hives are weakened or dead and very few are flying for forage. If the queen has been killed it will take some time to establish a new one and rebuild the colony. Numbers of dead bees have been cleared out of the hives by the workers left.

| | | Re: Honey Bees where are they? Anecdotally the best year for the past five years here, seen loads. There were hardly any last year so it sounds local. |

| | | Re: Honey Bees where are they? I have had loads of honeybees on the skimmia Nightshade, but the bumbles are not keen on it, I wonder if these honeybees are wild, or if they are from a hive, they managed to take quite a lot of food from the bumble feeder last year. Pauline. |

| | | Re: Honey Bees where are they? Almost certainly the honeybees you see in your garden are from a hive, not a wild nest. |
