| | | two insects for id if possible please sorry prety poor pictures but both seem quite distinct to me. can anyone help with a name please. 
taken 06/04/2011. sunning itself on a moss covered concrete block. blue green body and red head 
taken 07/04/2011 feeding on gorse flowers.

The first is an exceptional toughie, either Oulema rufocyanea/melanopus. For a specific determination with these you need the inside of the male's genitalia, or the female equivalent. Beyond my scope at the moment!
The second is the Gorse Weevil, Apion ulicis I believe. The host-plant is just as informative.

Take care, Jason | I think the genus for the weevil is now known as Exapion, but agree with the ID. Used to get loads of these everytime I beat Gorse as well as smaller numbers of a couple of Sitona spp. |
