Deformed Fly?

Hello

I'm fairly confident in my ID of the fly as it's quite distinctive i.e flesh fly, my question is - any ideas what would have caused the damage to it's wings? It caught my attention by it's erratic movement, but it wasn't until I later viewed my pics that it's wings were damaged, but they seemed deformed rather than "Battle worn" - just curiosity

This fly looks like it has just emerged and is expanding its wings, in the same way dragonflies do. Alternatively it may be encountered problems when trying to expand its wings and the damage could be permanent.
