| | | Re: Poecilus cupreus I'm sorry, but in my mind this is Poecilus versicolor. The picture is a bit blurred, but you can see that there is no punctation of head and Thorax. So this is not P. cupreus.

| | | Re: Poecilus cupreus This where people tell me to get new glasses but, given the blurring, I saw the pronotum as quite pitted (not just the foveae) - I cannot see the head well enough to comment. P. cupreus is more abundant than P. versicolor but they are both common so not unlikely.
The next time one is caught, make sure it doesn't shake its head! Some people do carry around a small piece of soft plasticine or dental wax to restrain lively specimens ..... |
