Beetle for ID

I spotted this beetle on a silver birch trunk yesterday, at Kirkby Moor, Lincs. From memory it was longer than a 7-spot ladybird, but not by much (I didn't get the chance for a proper measurement).



Any help with ID appreciated.

I'll just point the way with Triplax. Let others do the spadework

the habitus tells Triplax russica, the biggest and the most common species of this genus in Central Europe.

Thanks for the help. After Oxycera made the suggestion of Triplax, I took a look on NBN gateway and just two Triplax species have been found at that location - Triplax aenea and Triplax russica. Thanks Klaas for narrowing down still further
