Sawfly? ID please
I spotted this insect on the top of a Dog's Mercury plant and then on a tree trunk close by. I have no idea what it is but wondered if it could possibly be a species of sawfly? Can anyone help please?
Apart from the dull greeny-brown collar at the top of the thorax and paler sections of the lower legs, the body appeared to be virtually all black.
Thanks and apologies if I've made a ridiculous guess.

Not rediculous! Alas, the insect is probably a Stonefly-type thing.

Never apologise for trying! It's a Stonefly (Plecoptera), Leuctra sp.
