| | | A land leech
Having just literally fitted my new ring flash to my camera I went in to the garden to look for something to try it out on. I turned over some rotting wood on a stump and saw this tiny worm-like creature. Closer inspection revealed a leech. Nowhere near water and about 6/7 mm long, black as you can see.
I am not sure that it isn't that common but I certainly would like to identify it if anyone can help me. Much appreciated as always. |

| | | Re: A land leech Hello Deb, I had already read that but it seems the leech in question there was 12 inches long mine wasn't even a half inch, a guess mine could have been a juvenile? |

| | | Re: A land leech Yes indeed - they have to start somewhere. Beggars can shrink too if they don't find enough food (or so I read; I'm not the greatest fan of leeches, but they are beautiful creatures in the garden pond, which is where they should stay, LOL ).

Your location may help a passing leech expert. I read Trocheta subviridis is a southern species for example.
