Za | Thanks Za. Lovely shot. So typical on a breakground of leaves or dead wood.

Unfortunately was too camera-shy for a good photo. |

| | | Re: Bee-fly watch Found my first on Friday with a friend and saw loads today at Ashclyst Woods in Devon but I only had the compact camera. I aim to return with the 'proper' camera to try for some nice pictures. They are jittery things to creep up to without spooking them. |

| | | Re: Bee-fly watch I saw my first one of the year on Friday too, it hovered briefly then checked out a couple of flowers and darted off out of sight! I was in the right place at the right time to get it!

| | | Re: Bee-fly watch So for the uninitiated.
What is a bee fly, I have seen quite a few of these at the local woods.
I assume that they are flies that look like bees.
Do they sting or bite. Is that long nose for gathering nectar? |
