one for jason green and others

Hi Jason et al

Was on a site in the midlands today and spotted a small bee that was rusty red in colour. It was only approx 15mm and had black head with red abdomen. Looked like a solitary bee of some sort but I cannie find a pic of it anywhere and it was too quick for the camera to get a shot.

When I say red I dont mean orange, it was a deeper red.

Any help appreciated.

I think I may have asnwered my own question here. It looks pretty much like a tawny mining bee to me.

Thanks for the mention there! I'm only just starting work with Andrena myself, so pretty useless with solitaries. Still, A. fulva was my first guess.
