| | | Small Beetle ID with photo. Dear All,
I have found several small (2 to 3mm) brown beetles in my home. They have a distinct separate head and appear to be pointed towards the rear. Pictures as provided.
It would be great to get some help on this!
Best

| | | Re: Small Beetle ID with photo. This is family Dermestidae, genus Trogoderma or genus Attagenus. To tell more specific I would need better pictures or the beetle itself.
Regards
Klaas

Does your classification consider that the head seems quite pronounced, i.e. it seems to pertrude from the body? I think you might be able to see those on my pictures. I can't zoom in further unfortunatly.

| | | Re: Small Beetle ID with photo. Hi,
there is no way in an ID of this beetle by this photo. My guess for the two mentioned genus' is because of the antennae, which make this beetle a male and which is very typically for those two genus'.
Have a look at these pages: Dermestidae (Coleoptera) - Homepage of Andreas Herrmann
That will open your eyes to the problems in identification of those beetles and a lot more, when you know that many of these beetles can possibly be imported. You need to expect, that many of them can be delayed with food transports and similar things. You need to expect new species at any time.
Regards
Klaas
