| | | Re: tiny ladybird-like beetle for ID Afternoon Tobes,
It's one of the atypical species of Ladybird; probably a Scymnus sp., then wait for Paul!
Do you have any showing the colour of the appendages? They look brownish.
Take care, Jason

| | | Re: tiny ladybird-like beetle for ID N. ornatus isn't British. I was thinking more along the lines of something like Nephus quadrimaculatus, but wouldn't want to go further than Genus here. |

| | | Re: tiny ladybird-like beetle for ID Hi everybody,
the green Jason is right. It is Nephus quadrimaculatus (compare the colour of the head of Scymnus frontalis and Nephus quadrimaculatus). The ones who guessed genus Scymnus are right in some way, too, because Nephus is a former subgenus of genus Scymnus and got its rank as genus just somewhat 15 years ago. And at least it is the question, if making Nephus a genus is such a good idea.
Regards
Klaas
