Carabidae identification? (Lancashire)
Hi, can anyone assist in identifying this Carabidae? Is it one of Pterostichus species? Found it on a heath/scrub habitat in Lancashire late last summer.

looks like Calathus fuscipes .

I'd agree - can't see too much details but the chunky body is rather like Harpalus but the legs longer, more elegant - it's a fast running species of sandy, light woodland so Calathus fuscipes does seem a good bet.
