The last is a photo-impossible Pollenia sp., I believe.

You've opened up a whole new world for me with those comments about Episyrphus balteatus, Dogghound - I shall be googling life cycles and all such!
And thank you too, Jason. Now you've given me the Pollenia sp name and I've looked them up, I think I probably know the window frame ridge where it spent the winter with its pals! |
