| | | tiny white dots I have been battling book lice and I believe mould mites in my house for over a year. Probably before that but never noticed them. I have now found (for the first time) the tiny white specks which I believe to be mold mites in my kitchen on the top of some tins. I know I can never get rid of them completely but I am concerned about my food. I have fresh fruit and veg, bread which they could get to. And I have been putting said tins in the fridge.
Should I be concerned? I fear I may have or will have eaten some. |

| | | Re: tiny white dots Morning Starlight,
What exactly are 'Mold mites'? I've not heard that term before. It's probably not an issue, we probably all have them but don't notice.
I suppose the best thing would be periodic warm, soapy water with the 'textured' side of a washing-up sponge in areas affected if it's a concern.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: tiny white dots These sorts of things occur during the times the rooms are shut up and air does not circulate too well i.e Winter, the cure is Spring Cleaning, (clever lot the ancients) Warm and well ventilated, hot soapy water, brooms and dusters.
Place books and other small objects in a microwave for 40 seconds (on high). This will kill both adult book lice and their eggs.
Place infested objects in a freezer with the temperature set at 0 degrees F for a full 24 hours. Adults will be killed in three to four hours, but eggs require a full 24 hours to kill.
*Bear in mind the value of the books*

| | | Re: tiny white dots Hi all,
I have been doing all suggested for over a year. The numbers have definately been reduced but I know they will never be 100% gone. Unless I clean 24/7. I am concerned about health if they come in contact with food or if eaten. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
