Yet another Unknown caterpillar

Yet another caterpillar seen in Portugal that I cannot identify, help please.

Looks like one of the Eggar moths (Lasiocampidae) had a quick look and though perhaps Grass Eggar Lasiocampa trifolii looks close (have a look here Lepidoptera Species by Common Name in Taxonomic Order ) but that is from a uk website and I am not sure if this species is found in Portugal. Why don’t you try the sister to this website Wild about the World http://www.wildabouttheworld.com/for...invertebrates/ you may find someone there from Portugal who could help you.

Hi Ferret, many thanks, you are right it is the grass eggar and the site you pointed me to is great I hadn't found that one.
I have tried to post on wild about the world but when I registered I stupidly used another name and cannot now access my pics and cannot change my registration no matter how many emails I send so I will just have to rely on all you knowledgable folk on wild about britain who so far have been brilliant.

Register as a new person - there are so many non-existent people on all these fora that one more will make no difference...... and choose a simple name (Tuffykins2 perhaps?)!

Thanks Paul, I'll have a go at that and perhaps try Tuffykins then I should be able to access my photo's!
