| | | Sawflies for ID These are last year's sawflies that i failed to ID. If anyone has any ideas, i would appreciate it! Also, does anyone know of any good sawfly ID websites or books (and sawfly larvae!)?

| | | Re: Sawflies for ID Yes, most look like dolerines. 4. is a Tenthredo of the arcuata group.
6. looks like Aglaostigma sp.
Never seen a book on sawfly larvae, unfortunately.
The only was to identify sawflies correctly is by using Benson's RES keys and a microscope.

| | | Re: Sawflies for ID There is an excellent book on sawfly larvae: unfortunately it is in German and was published some 50 years ago: Lorenz & Kraus "Die Larvalsystematik der Blattwespen". This remarkable work is still the standard reference, but it does not cover every species. |
