| | | Silk ball....ID Please ? ? A large tree has come down in my local wood and underneath the cavity left by the roots where about 15-20 silk balls hanging on a 2 inch thread.....Can anyone identify them as the chainsaws will be roaring tommorow as its over a path and I could scoop them up and hide them in another tree ? I have taken a bad photo as my camera is being fixed and im awaiting my new setup... So forgive the pic but they looked amazing all hanging inside the cavernous hollow trunk.....One of the "I wish I had my camera moments"

Harimau | This I can't answer and certainly won't try but someone on here should know. If it is a type of silk moth I should think it's fairly unusual as I think they're grown on in warm conditions.
Next link isn't a Brit site or brit species but have a look at the size that the caterpillar grows too!! Amazing! Just thought it was interesting! Cecropia Silkmoth
