| | | First hoverfly of 2011 After the rather cold weather we had before Christmas, I didn't expect to find a hoverfly in the garden yesterday- Episyrphus balteatus feeding on some sugar/honey spray on a camelia bush in weak winter sun. Looks fairly recently emerged

Given the degree of black on the abdomen I suppose it emerged late last year, then went into hibernation a while later. Good to see, thanks for posting.
