| | | I get bitten all the time Hi.
I always seem to get bitten, I live in Dorset and even get bitten in the winter. this time I got small blisters on most fingers and a few on the hands wrists. My tongue went white and has swollen, mouth and gums are sore. This is the worst it has ever been, any ideas how to prevent it? I didn't think I'd need mosi spray or my fave 'skin so soft' in the winter. Do garlic tablets work? |

If its bedbugs then it could very well be all year round. Or maybe fleas?

| | | Re: I get bitten all the time It sounds more like an allergic reaction to something which may, or may not, be insect bites. A visit to your GP would be the best place to start.

| | | Re: I get bitten all the time It is odd, once I had it very bad, went to the gp, as usual, antihist and cream, same old, they do not help. It is not fleas or bed bugs as no one else gets bitten when i do, it must be from outside. |

| | | Re: I get bitten all the time If you had these symptoms in the recent cold snap then I think you can rule out Mozzies and the like as you don't get them flying in very cold weather. So all those sorts of insect-repellent sprays and creams won't help.
I'd rule out sensitivity to a product that your hands come in contact with. Very strict use of barrier creams and gloves, and changing to simple soaps etc will help if this is the case. Avoid latex gloves unless you are certain you are not allergic to this substance.

How long have you had this reaction for?
Some people do have allergic reactions to bites. I used to experience a reaction to insects bites - only for a few weeks though. If I got one bite (usually from midge type flies) I would come out with large itchy hard lumps spread out all over me...
I too got cream from the GP however only stopped the itching.... but after a few weeks it stopped so I guess my immune system must have kicked in...
Perhaps the same will happen for you although for now it's best to get something to reduce the symtoms since it sounds worse than what I had and must be very uncomfortable for you
