| | | are these hornets I'm wondering if I'm right in thinking these are Hornets. The pics were taken in florida recently so I know an exact species ID is unlikely. Just wondered if they were Hornets. They were big, going up to two inches in length.

| | | Re: are these hornets thank you all for your replies, it's great, I didn't think I'd get an ID as they're not native to Britain. I really appreciate it as they kept me wondering. I've never seen a wasp so big before. They were very placid which is probably a good thing as we had to pass them regularly every day and of course quite a beautiful creature in a weird way. thank you for the links too. I will check them out in detail later, very helpful, thanks again.
