This in the garden this afternoon - flew in, sunned itself on a wall and then buzzed away. Unless I'm going mad it's B. hypnorum, but in my guide it says new females appear from the end of May to September - so this seems very late on doesn't it? Or are other people seeing them too I wonder?    |

I would certainly agree with your ID. The weather is certainly very mild at the moment. Eucera would be best commenting on its appearance. |

Thank you aeshna5! Good to have it confirmed. Yes about the weather, although I haven't seen any here since August or September, so it does seem strange to show up now. Confused of Brownwich! |

Certainly B. hypnorum (as George has confirmed). It is very late... but I have had other records (and seen a couple myself) in the last 2 weeks.
Surely hibernation beckons?
