Need Grasshopper ID

Hi i am doing a school project and need an ID in this grasshopper This is the only pic i have got of it but i think it had a yellow belly.

It is not a grasshopper, but a bush-cricket. Was the picture taken in Britain?

I am pretty certain that this is a male Dark Bush-cricket (Pholidoptera griseoaptera). Only if it was photographed ouside Britain might it be another species.

I ought to have said that bush-crickets and grasshoppers are closely related. Grasshoppers have short antennae, bush-crickets have long thread-like antennae, as this one does.

Yes this is Pholidoptera griseoaptera

Agreed and today I found one in brambles, in pretty good nick and still stridulating.

Hi it was photographed in Bilsington near Romney Marsh In the south east. it was found in an area of rough Hops,vineweeds,brambles and grasses. it photographed earlyier this summer in late july/early september.
