Please can someone identify this beetle ?

It's not a beetle but a bug (Hemiptera: Heteroptera). Looks to me like a rhopalid - Rhopalus/Stictopleurus - but I can find a fit. Doubtless someone else will tell you - good luck.
What intrigues me is the swelling of the right hind leg. Is that real or just muck or is it present on both legs?

Its a bug, Leptoglossus occidentalis (Hemiptera, Coreidae). A recent immigrant, its been spreading across the UK for about ten years. The cuticular extensions on its legs are just decoration.

I see they are a pest to conifer seeds,not sure if they should be destroyed or not,can become a nuisance in the home as give off a bad smell but I expect that would be in large numbers.
