Flies for i.d. please

This is the only photo I managed for this one and I am not sure if there is enough to identify it.


Not even sure if it is a fly and a very small one it is too. Doubt whether anyone can i.d. it but you don't know if you don't ask.

No, the last one isn't a fly, it's a Chrysis species of Cuckoo Wasp.

Going by the size and the colour of the head and thorax I'd suggest that this is probably Trichrysis cyanea, but without a look at the colour of the abdomen it is impossible to get to a species level ID with any confidence.

Thank you Gatekeeper + Matt. I hadn't realised how small these cuckoo wasps are.

Any i.d's on the 1st + 2nd photos?

Is no1 Yellow dung fly - Scathophagid sp?

The first one looks like Scathophaga stercoraria, if it has black antennae. I have had a couple of mating pairs recently on the Ivy.

I wouldn't like to even try with the second one.

Thank you Janet. Before you posted I had been doing a search of my own and got it to Scathopagid sp. (yellow dung fly). Knowing nothing..... I am quite pleased with myself.

Must be warm where you are, these wasps only usually come out on the hottest of days, the one`s i see anyway ...

Actually it is quite cold and I have the heating on. Photo was taken in June and I am having a sort out of all my unidentified pictures. There are quite a few to be identified so keep looking for my posts.
