| | | orange crossed spider ID please i found this spider moving very slow and clumsy across my patio, sorry for the poor photos,
the spider is about the size of a £2 coin with legs out the main body is about 10mm across.
the main pattern is a, Cross + on its back in bright orange then becoming a lighter orange then into moteld brown.
when viewd side on the spider sits at a 45 degree angle. onthe under side the only pattern is a small dark brown square. the legs a dark and light brown stripes with very corse spiney looking hairs.
the bright orange cross on the body where the left to right line goes across the body, the body bulges out a bit making the back a sort of triangle

| | | Re: orange crossed spider ID please It is a bit difficult to tell from those photos, but to start with, check out Araneus diadematus (Garden Spider). They are normally quite brownish but it isn't uncommon for them to be distinctively reddish. |

| | | Re: orange crossed spider ID please I agree with Geoff- it does look like Araneus diadematus, which as he says can be quite variable in colour + I've certainly seen quite a few reddish-brown specimens. |
