| | | ID please I have a few questions I hope you can answer.
I have found little brown insects 2mm if that in length and little white insects the size of a dot in my house. I have found them most in my bedroom but found them in every room of the house. I have found them in draws and boxes and wardrobes and crawling along the floor and headboards and shelves. I believe they are booklice. Should I be concerned about them, especially in my kitchen?
My friend has found little white insects and black insects 2mm in length in her kitchen cupboard. She first noticed something when she was feeding her baby milk when she saw a dead body floating in the bottle. She is scared because her baby drank some of that milk. She looked in the cupboard she keeps the milk and found these insects in there. She has thrown all the food out and wiped the cupboard down.
Are my friend's black insects the same as my brown ones? I've never seen them but they sound just like my brown ones but different colour.
What should we do and should we be concerned? |

| | | Re: ID please Without a picture I don't think you're going to get a satisfactory reply: there are so many different animals that they may be (and various life stages of the animals) - different insects, mites &c.. You can find some sort of wildlife in almost any cupboard that isn't regularly cleaned out.
One particularly hazardous place is in cupboards which are packed full, especially if they are damp. So the answer is not to pack cupboards too tightly, not to have things pressed up against the walls and to examine food cupboards every month or two.
On the other hand, these beasts are not likely to cause much harm: they're not poisonous or secreting toxins. Some (especially the mites) can cause allergic reactions or even asthma so best keep them away.
Good luck.

| | | Re: ID please Thank you for the reply. When you say they are not secreting toxins do you mean they don't urinate? I am asking because I found some brown ones and white ones in a bag of dry pasta. I threw out the pasta and now living on freezer, fridge and tin food. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
