| | | Smart-looking bee for ID if poss pls This bee stood out today, when only the Colletes Hederae seem to be about in any numbers, and didn't look worn or faded. I'd be grateful to know what it is? I've lots more angles if I've missed a salient part! |

| | | Re: Smart-looking bee for ID if poss pls Hmm - interesting. Looks to me like a fresh female Andrena of some sort, but what it is doing out and about at this time of the year I do not know.
I have accidentaly dug up a nest of Andrena nitida - a single brooded spring species - in September before and had the (very dopy and surprised) fresh "new" females fly off once they got over the shock of being excavated. I'm wondering if that might be the reason this one is flying now.
Post up some more pics so we can take a better stab at the species. |

| | | Re: Smart-looking bee for ID if poss pls Andrena bicolor was my thoughts too, they are one bee which continues well throughout the summer in my garden but this seems very unusual!
