Females are green males have green and blue segments as shown in this pic of a male Southern hawker.  |

Thanks for that; I thought it was my camera's characteristic taking away the blues when there were bright green/yellows around the subject.

Yes, indeed a beauty. They are quite inquisitive dragonflies too. They will come close and even 'buzz' you.
