Which Robberfly?
I managed to get a quick shot of this Robberfly before it hopped it with it's crane fly dinner. The photo was taken last May in Somerset. Would anybody care to speculate as to which family it belongs to?

From that angle, this is just a guess, but it does look like an Empis to me. Possibly Empis tessellata.

I did see a lot of them this Spring and early Summer.
