Blandford Fly on the increase

Nasty little things these, I've been bitten a few times and the swelling and itchiness is quite unpleasant. Once I was bitten on the face near one eye and the whole of the side of my face swelled up, was off work for a couple of days. Normal anti-histamines or white vinegar helps but basically you just have to put up with it for three days or so.

Have you actually seen (and identified) the fly responsible? It would be very interesting and possibly useful to have an image of it, though it might be difficult to tell it from other Simulium spp.

I saw the little blighter, the last thing on my mind was taking its photo!
