In UK, the Honeybee is the only bee species with a "corbiculum" on the hind leg. This is a flattened polished area on the hind tibia that is framed with long hairs, and is used for carrying the pollen. Note also the rather flattened mid basitarsus and the hairy eyes (the latter is not unique to honeybees, but will ditinguish them from superficially similar Andrena or Colletes) |

For some time I have been having trouble with Bee identification. Its great to find my instinct was right on this one.
