2 caterpillars for ID please

I have a patch of flowers growing from dropped bird seed. I went out today to count how many sunflowers are growing there and came across these 2 caterpillars. Apart from the sunflowers, I've no idea what the other plants are.
Can anyone ID them for me please ?
There were also lots of different flies and some ladybirds wandering around in the plants .

Here is a picture of the area in my garden they were in. I live in Midlothian, Scotland. I'm south of Edinburgh in a village on the A68, a few miles north of the Lammermuir Hills.
