I think I have got this one correct but would like confirmation. I read the bristles under the head are used to trap their prey! It has plenty of bristles.
~7mm long, 22nd September.

| | | Re: Carabidae Loricera pilicornis Yes, shen it approaches prey (a small springtail, for instance) it brings all its heairy parts (antennae, mandibles &c) together forming a sort of cage which allows it to eat the prey without worrying whether it will escape! Quote:
