Carabidae Leistus spinibarbis?

Hi,

This pretty little beetle was running inside too fast for me to get more than this reasonable pic, I didn't even manage to get it in a cup before it disappeared down the edge of the carpet!

It was around 7 or 8mm. Leistus spinibarbis looks a good match to me, but I know how difficult beetles can be so would appreciate anyone either confirming or otherwise.

The colour was bluish as shows in the pic, remember it will enlarge more with a click on the pic.

Hi Janet,

I guess you're right, but it is always difficult for me to separate Leistus spinibarbis from L. fulvibarbis on a photo. I know that Leistus spinibarbis emerges on the british isles, but I don't know if L. fulvibarbis does it, too. If not, than this is surely L. spinibarbis.

Thanks again Klaas, L. fulvibarbis does occur here and quite commonly, but the colouring maybe leans towards L spinibarbis even though the other species can show some blue.
