Insect for ID please
Found in my dining room.

Sorry it is in a glass, i was trying to protect it from the cat!

It is about 1 inch long, quite big. Any ideas?

It looks like a Devil's Coach-horse Beetle Staphylinus olens

Yes, Ocypus olens is the more commonly used name now.
