| | | Re: 18 spot ladybird? Peter, there are a few hints to look for in Harmonia axyridis, one is the upside down M shape on the pronotum but this can be confused with the 10-spot. Brown legs are another, and they have a couple of small bumps on the rear downward slope of the elytra so that's a good clue if they are a different form where there is no M showing.
I had one which for all the world looked like a 10-spot, shallow shape with pale edges to the elytra but it had bumps on the elytra!
