Fewer slugs?

For the first time ever, slugs and snails have failed this year to make it into my greenhouse to devour my tomatoes, peppers etc. Outdoors, many other crops, usually decimated by the blighters, have also been relatively untouched. Perhaps the severe weather last winter here in southern Scotland has had an impact on numbers of 'ghastlypods'. Has anyone else noticed this?
