I caught this earlier in the season, took a rubbish photo of it and then forgot about it. I wonder if anyone can tell me what it is.  |

It's a Sphaerophoria species, in my opinion.

I think Jason has hit the nail on the head, check to see it has a yellow band down the sides of the thorax.
Some examples here of females.
