| | | Re: Hover flies and some others. 9 to ID please Hi, #1 looks like Volucella inanis, #3 Scaeva pyrastri, #4 might be a potter wasp, but I'm not sure, #5 I'd go for Tachina fera, #6 is a bad angle for me as I'm not great at this, #7 possibly Eristalis tenax but again I'm not sure, #8 same as 7, #9 same as 3. Hopefully I've got a couple right! Nodoubt someone better will be along soon!

Just for completeness - here are my thoughts - can we have the hover data for the scheme please?
1. Volucella inanis female
2. Eristalis tenax female
3. Scaeva pyrastri female
4. Tachina fera (as Matt says)
5. Ancistrocerys sp + sawfly - probably? Athalia sp.
6. Eristalis pertinax female
7. Eristalis pertinax male
8. eristalis horticola female
9. Eupeodes sp - probably luniger but not certain.
