ID a bug
I

is this a coreus marginatus? It does seem to have 2 tiny horns (which it says in my insect book it should have)?

is it a shield bug or doesn't its family count as one?

You're correct with the id, Coreus marginatus. These are in the family Coreidae, known as Squashbugs and closely related to the Shieldbugs.
