Dragonfly ID please.
Hi,

I just found this great site a few minutes ago and thought I'd use my first post to see if I can get an ID on on of my photos

I really don't know a lot about dragonflies so the ID is probably quite straight forward considering it's colour, but it would be great to know!

Hi and a very warm welcome to WAB.

The Dragonfly in your image is a male Common Darter Sympetrum striolatum, a very widespread species in the UK and very prolific at this time of year.

Agreed, a male Common Darter.
There are other similar species though so ID isn't always as simple - it helps to have good photo like this one.
