| | | Re: Bee for ID please This is a faded Carder Bee of some species, can't say any more than that from the angle of the photo. For something like this I'd probably need to see the specimen to decide.
When fresh, the Shrill Carder Bee is a pale-greenish yellow with a pale pink tail. This rapidly fades to a mostly white/silver colour with only a hint of pink at the tail. The most obvious field character for Shrill Carder bee is the dark central band across the centre of the thorax. What you basicly see first is a greyish bee with a black "square" on the thorax. The bee in your photo lacks this "black square" and is more of a faded brown colour typical of one of the Carder Bees.

(Currently surveying for Shrill Carder Bee at the moment in South Wales, and actually finding one or two ) |

| | | Re: Bee for ID please Thanks for the prompt reply Matt. There have been a few found on my patch and I hoped this might be one off them.
I'll keep looking and let you know if I find one. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
