| | | Re: Hoverfly ID's The second certainly looks like a Platycheirus but we really need to know for sure if it is male or female, and from that angle I'm not totally certain.
If it is male we have a problem with a front leg which, as far as I can see, lacks any expanded area on the tibia/tarsus.
The only alternative that I can think of is a strangely marked Melanstoma sp.
