Janet identified a pic I uploaded in May as Ptychoptera contaminata (male). See below:
I photographed this female cranefly today about 10m away from same location. It looks very similar, however I would appreciate views on identification before I upload to the Gallery:

There's 7 species here, I've found some of them and Ptychoptera contaminata is the most common, it checks out as far as I can see.
I'm not sure what those orange blobs are on that female on diptera.info, they are not on other pics I've found so could it have mites attached to the halteres?

...and yes I think the orange blobs look like mites too.
